Your own physical space

I had been away from my home for a while now. It was a time away to friend's and relative's home for the celebration of the festival and the new year. After coming back to my shelter, probably after about 10-15 days back, I had a mixed feeling. Started with anxiousness and moved to comfort. It reminded me of the importance of an independent physical space and here's my reason for it. The Space could range from an independent house to a room to a table or a shelf or just a tiny backpack! The size of space doesn't really matter, but to be able to see it as an untouched, homely and safe space with you wherever you go does.

I needed today.

I needed this time
To get bored,
To look away from people,
To find comfort in silence,
To look at all the unread books lying there to be read,
To look at the unfinished projects,
To be reminded of the workout clothes that haven't been put to use,
To weed out the junk that I didn't miss while I was away and hence can be discarded altogether to make my life lighter,
To place more importance to the things that I really missed placing it on the top of my priority list,
and To observe the simplicity in mundane things that makes the moment spent with others feel more special while reminding to place equal importance to moments spent with self!

While all of that is easier to observe in silence and with no one around, the real #question is - How do you attain a sense of your own physical Space, while being around your loved one's? What really constitutes carrying your physical space with you, to make any place your own?
