Being a woman

Between the clock of the office hours, a casual conversation struck today, about what one would want to be in their next birth. Choices were immaterial of gender and species. To which, a friend mentioned that he would want to continue being a male, coz being a female isn't easy. And that got me thinking - what is it actually like , being a woman, is it really difficult, and here's my personal take - on the emotional roller-coaster part!

Being the female of the species, is the greatest adventure the nature can endorse. And the adventure lasts for a lifetime. I get to be a different me throughout the month, like the seasons.

We sometimes are bright and energetic like summer, jolly and hopeful as the spring, melancholic and gloomy like the rains, or mysterious as the winter snow. And none of this is an active choice, but a play of the hormones. When I'm high on my emotion, my mood, I'm "Kali". Do what you may, and I'll dance to whatever tune life throws at me. I am in love with myself during this phase, which in return makes me attractive as a human. At this phase, we also risk coming out as cocky, or extravagant.

On the contrary, on my lows, the whole world seems like an enemy, coming up with devious plans to strike me down. I see myself as a victim amidst every situation. I distance myself from all interactions. I go into my cocoon, with a feeling that the rains are meant to stay. We are at our most vulnerable and are prone to make decisions born out of insecurities. Regardless of what we think, the monsoon passes and summer does arrive.

Of course, the degrees of those feelings and actions varies between individuals, external factors, the sensitivity towards one's emotions and understanding.

Female of the species are endorsed with creative energy and when that phase strikes, it's such a wonderful feeling. We enjoy expressing in form of art, cooking, dancing or any medium of one's Choice, merry making, creating beauty out of nothing.
